A couple months ago I got to listen/talk with Guy Genis of LA-based Eventmakers. My Event Management class was wowed with stories of crazy/awesome/over-the-top events that Mr. Genis (who seems to have the Midas touch) has helped to put on throughout his awesome career. I was wondering what was going on in the events tech sector and was happy to find Eventup. While I hate the _____ for _____ description, they’re essentially the Airbnb for event space. They’ve got quite a few awesome venues and make it incredibly easy for the everyday party planner to discover unique event space and book it instantly. So far they’ve got spaces listed in LA (their home base), San Francisco and NYC. As the venue/space rental business is already somewhat established it may be easier for them to scale as venue owners are familiar with the renting process, and this makes it a whole lot easier. Definitely on my radar.
